AMCOW is working with the World Water Forum’s Secretariat to organise the 9th World Water Forum. The Forum is the largest global event for accelerating collective action for water. Since it got founded by the World Water Council (WWC) in 1997, this is the first time the Forum will be happening in sub-Saharan Africa.
With the title “Water Security for Peace and Development” and building upon previous World Water Forums, the 9th Forum will, through an innovative framework, seek to identify, promote and implement concrete responses and actions for water and sanitation in an integrated way.
As it is the culture of the WWC to collaborate with a host country every three years to organise the Forum, this time, it is collaborating with the Government of Senegal to host the event. Participants from all levels and areas will include politicians, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The international water community and critical decision-makers will collaborate and make long-term progress on global water challenges.
During this Forum, AMCOW and the African Development Bank will have a Pavilion to provide space for engagement meetings and seminars, exhibitions, and knowledge and information sharing on Africa’s water and sanitation agenda. We have summarised some of the topical side events at the pavilion for your information.
