January 2024Driven by a passion for sustainable water resources management, I am a seasoned professional with over 16 years of hands-on experience in the water sector. My journey has been characterised by a commitment to addressing complex challenges and driving positive change within regional organisations and multilateral development institutions.
My academic background combines Environmental and Water Sciences with Integrated Water Resources Management; and Public Administration. In addition, I maintain a research interest in the boundaries of benefits sharing in transboundary water management. This has shaped my post-qualification professional experience to serve in roles supporting initiatives to both create a shared water management vision and actualise it.
And this is what I bring to the AMCOW Secretariat: a firm grasp of the principles, practice and political dynamic that is a key influence on implementing the AMCOW Strategy 2018 – 2030. In particular, achieving the goals of Strategic Pillar I of the strategy on assuring water security.
I am passionate about fostering cross-sectoral partnerships and advancing sustainable development at local, regional, and global levels. My involvement in various professional bodies and sector associations underscores my dedication to continuous learning and knowledge sharing. It is thus that I remain at the forefront of emerging trends and best practices in the area of good water governance and management.
Above all, a sense of personal honour and integrity is very important to me. These same personal values will form the foundation of my approach to the duties and responsibilities of my role at the AMCOW Secretariat. I am excited to leverage my skills and expertise, as well as benefit from the opportunities AMCOW offers to make a significant contribution to the realisation of Africa’s aspirations for economic growth and social transformation.
