Ministre de l'Hydraulique et de l'Assainissement de la République, République islamique de MauritanieAmal Mint Maouloud was born on September 17, 1983 in Brussels, Belgium. She trained as an engineer, earning a diploma in Fluid Mechanics and Energy in 2006 from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers, University Paris 6, and complemented this with a Master II in Information Management & Innovation the next year.
Her early career included work in France as a project engineer with Électricité de France (EDF), and then in Mauritania with the National Agency for Renewable Energies (ANADER) and the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC). Over time she took on ministerial responsibilities: Minister of Housing, Urbanism and Territorial Reclamation (2016-2018), then Minister of Equipment and Transport (2018-2019). She was also Director General of Mauritania Airlines from 2019 to 2021, and later worked as an international consultant in the energy sector.
Since August 6, 2024, Amal Mint Maouloud has been serving as Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation in the Government of Mokhtar Ould Djay. In this role she is overseeing policy and programs related to water supply, sanitation, and the development of hydraulic infrastructure
